Meet Eric Hughes
Massage Therapist and Psychotherapist
Helping my clients slow down and come into deeper contact with their body through massage brings me genuine joy. As someone with a history of being pretty "in my head," I've come to deeply value the mindful connection that we're able to cultivate with our bodies. Through my work as a psychotherapist and my personal experience, I’ve learned that we need to feel connected to our bodies in order to heal and experience true wellbeing. This often requires us to take time to slow our pace and tune in to ourselves.
We live in a culture that values speed and productivity. Our attention is constantly being pulled at from different directions. It can be hard to step out of "doing" mode and enter into a "being" mode that allows us to just relax or receive. I love to support my clients in making time to just be and receive nourishment through physical and emotional care.
When I’m not massaging or working as a psychotherapist, I love to connect with my own body through dancing or getting outside to surf, ski, swim, roam around in nature, or just spend time with my wonderful friends.

What to expect from a massage
A focus on the whole person
I embody a warmth, care, and openness to each individual that I work with. During a massage, I integrate a Swedish approach with Myofascial and Deep Tissue techniques to facilitate an experience of deep safety, relaxation, and release.
I work directly with your muscles and fascia to help them let go of tension while recognizing that this is only the physical part of the story. I'm also supporting your nervous system to feel safe and relaxed. My journey as a psychotherapist has deepened my awareness of the role that our emotions and nervous system can play in the tension and pain we carry in our bodies. Massage can play a key role in helping us to release what’s become stuck and to reorient to our bodies in more healthy and easeful ways.
Sometimes slowing down and feeling our bodies can be wonderful, and sometimes it can be uncomfortable or feel vulnerable. I strive to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and inviting of this sort of vulnerability. I hope that you leave a massage with me feeling a deeper sense of ease and awareness of your body.
